Middle school and high school can be tough. Is your teen struggling with school, in their relationships with friends, with you? Do they appear to be irritable, withdrawn, unmotivated, sad? Do you notice changes in sleep, sudden changes in peer group, changes in personality? You may be wondering if your child is just going through a phase or if it is something more serious than that. Whether this behavior is due to anxiety, depression, bullying, or problems at home, it should be addressed as quickly as possible.

In working with teenagers, I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship so that your child feels comfortable within the therapeutic setting.  I conduct a thorough intake history with parents or guardians during the first meeting to gather background information and to obtain a solid understanding of the problem areas. During the second meeting I will meet with the adolescent conduct a brief intake so that I can get to know your child better and create treatment goals. During subsequent therapy sessions I will use a mixture of evidence based therapeutic approaches and creative means to help improve your adolescent's behavior and overall quality of life.

My goal for family therapy is to help your family improve communication, solve family problems, understand and handle special family situations and create a better functioning home environment. Through family therapy, I can help families work through their problems, improve communication and resolve conflicts. I work with families consisting of a mixture of racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds, families made up of same-sex couples and when a step-family is formed or begins having difficulties adjusting to the new family life.

I have in-depth training on various modalities of family therapy and I work closely with each family to make sure I tailor my expertise to meet your family needs. I create a warm, caring, and non-judgemental environment for each family member to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and needs to ensure family therapy is effective.
